Camping '06
God I missed camping.
Tressa and I dragged all our gear from storage, shook off the dust collected over the winter, and headed for the beach this Golden Week. Riccardo and I caravanned with Jody, Daichi, Jen and Drew to Tokai, our favourite camping locale.
There were grillions of people who beat us there; fortunately, Japanese people apparently don't camp, at least not at Tokai. The surfers and day-trippers were no inconvenience; in fact, nothing could bruise our moods when we realized that fancy new BATHROOMS had been installed at our sight!!! Brand new, western flush toilets, the whole she-bang! I am exstatic!
Una met us at the beach and soon we had three large tents up and a great campfire burning. Too bad I have made a habit of forgetting the marshmallows. We played volleyball (well, sans net, sans teams), shogi (Japanese chess: cho muzikashi desu!), cards, we sang, snacked, debated, Riccardo even swam in the nippley waters of the Pacific. The weather was fanstastic. Can't wait to return!
