Holiday! Celebrate!

Today, Tuesday, March 21st, was a National Holiday in Japan.
Why?
Well, it is one of two days each year that the daylight hours are the exact same length as the dark ones.
Seems a rather trivial reason to call HOLIDAY!
But then, I like not working, so I'm not complaining.

I'm thinking of coming to Japan to teach English. Well really I'm coming to see Japan - teaching is just the way of supporting it. I've heard it can be difficult adjusting to the lifestyle - I also hear that the accomodation is tiny and expensive. Any advice?

In Buddhism, this holiday is called O-higan and the temperature change is symbolic of crossing from the shore of illusion to the other shore of enlightenment.

In Japan people visit temples to offer flowers and insense at their family graves.
