That's what it's been like since arriving in Canada last Monday. Riccardo and I haven't stopped! It was lovely to spend some time with Parker who was kind enough to fetch us from the airport after midnight on Monday, but after spending over 8 hours bussing from Vancouver to Kamloops, I'm re-thinking that method of getting home. Geez, it took less time from Heathrow to Minneapolis!
The jetlag proved to be a good thing when we got to Kamloops because it was all go-go-go. Mom and I have already made 320 meat skewers and 360 wontons for the cocktail party. Riccardo built an amazing torii for our archway (with Kelsey's help). Of course hours have already been spent shopping for everything we need, and that just a flash in the pan!
The best thing: my dress is amazing! Mom was really worried, since I ordered it online, that it wouldn't fit properly and need tons of expensive alterations. For some reason I was really calm about it. Well, I love it. It's exactly what I envisioned - with an immense train! What's more, I don't have to get any alterations because it fits like a glove. Now, I'm not a tall girl, so I'm thinking that the fact that this is the one article of clothing I haven't had to get shortened is fate. That dress is meant to be! Woo-hoo!
We did allow ourselves one day of holiday so far. Yesterday I took Riki to the local Pow-wow which happened to be going on this weekend. It was cool, but we didn't have time to see it get into full-swing. In the afternoon, we met up with Mom and Kelsey and drove to Shushwap lake where we sunbathed (with our 30spf of course!) and swam just like we were on vacation. I love the beach!
So now it's back to the grind, with tablecloths to cut, placecards to make, menus to design, shoji screens to build, groceries to order/shop, wine labels to stick, meeting to attend, yard to primp, and so much more! Wish me luck!
xx
